Bronze and Silver are delivered at the unit through timetabled lessons,
whereas Discover and Explore can be delivered through lessons, in schools,
youth groups or holiday camps.
We also moderate and submit for those wanting to complete the Arts
Awards independently and explore different arts.
Bronze, Silver and Gold courses take all the features of the Arts Award set
out by Trinity College, London.
Students explore at least one circus discipline in depth, improving their
overall skills in that area.
This will be supported by their current lessons. They will have the
opportunity to interview artists, take part in varied workshops and put
together a showcase.
Depending on the level at which the student is studying, they can take on
the role of director or make-up artists, alongside setting budgets and
advertising events as they build up to the final performance.
But the Arts Awards at Simia Circus School does not stop there.
We are building in key elements that will allow students to explore circus
and performance as a possible future career.
This includes safe rigging, sourcing equipment from reputable companies,
and equipment making and maintenance – all skills required to work within
the circus industry.
The Arts Award is designed to be adaptable and creative, meeting the
needs of the students completing the course.
All students, regardless of ability, additional or special educational needs,
are welcome to take part and will be fully supported by the trained team.
There will be a parents meetings in which parents will be kept up to date
with the progress their child is making and, we operate an open door policy
whereby parents and students are welcome to drop in for chat or raise
concerns.
